The picture is real. It shows a rille which is (probably) a collapsed ancient lavatube. Lava flowed there once and as it cooled it shrank leaving a cavity that eventually collapsed. Evidence from this came from the Apollo (and Luna) missions which showed lunar soil to be absolutely void of water. Flowing water was the other main theory for the formation of rilles until that time. More proof of rilles being volcanic came from the volcanic area of Oceanus Procellarum which is riddled with rilles.

And no, the moon was never split in two. The rilles do NOT extend the entire surface. And Mars and Venus have them too. Whole lotta splitting going on...

It wasn't always like that. Islam has some really important contributions to to math and science. It's current iteration is thanks to a violent fundamentalist named al Ghazali, whose teachings were adopted by force by all but a handful of Islamic sects today. Basically, and just like Christianity and judaism, there's a lot of different "flavors" of Islam.
