As a teacher for 7 years I'd say it breaks down like this

10 percent are above and beyond dedicated to teaching and love it.. 25% started that way and ended up realizing how bad it really is and just make it by but try

50% are there for vacation time or are coaches who have to teach

The rest don't give one fuck and are truly shit teachers who want vacation time

The administration and counselors almost all suck cock and were the reason I quit on top of shitty kids and parents that are clueless fucks who blame the teacher for their shitty kids

Yea I'd say maybe he was trying to illustrate his point (I've actually done similar with my wife before - sometimes people can't get outside themselves enough to see how they look), but... idk, seems pretty genuine given the context of a.) high school teacher and b.) NYC.

But he doesn't seem to have enough self control, self awareness, or tact to carry out such an act... also he walked back the detention while still being clearly pissed and setting new terms ("alright no detention this time but never talk out of turn or else"). You don't walk it back piecemeal - once you see the effect of your point set in, you drop the act entirely and accentuate your point by noting the dynamics of the situation in the moment. The right point to drop it would have been the boiling point "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?" ~1:20 and say "Now that's what a tyrannical dictator looks like."

Of course Trump isn't like that either, or I'm sure we would've heard about it. I had heard Kamala and Hillary were both messes like that... typical Leftist projection. "I'm an insanely angry person with no self control so Drumpf must be too!"
