GOG.com has been doing very well for a while now, all on DRM-free and downloadable installers one can archive.

I remember the forgotten arguments from well over 20 years ago now, how investing a lot of time into adding DRM is catering to pirates at the expense of customers, and how people just get the cracked version because it's more functional. Turns out it's true, far more people will pay for it if it's hassle-free.

Also I remember a Valve comment about halving the price and seeing dollar sales rise tenfold, like unit sales increased by twenty because of that.

Back in the day of boxes games and physical copies I paid every time I could. In the age of subscriptions, mandatory internet connections and digital "ownership", I don't care. Specially when a lot of devs and publishers use their platforms to push a message that has nothing to do with their game.

That's a point which is difficult to argue against.
