Here in France it isn't illegal, however if a planned homebirth was planned with a midwife to be a home birth and the medical authorities learn of this, the midwife will have her licence stripped.
We planned a homebirth for my son. Our midwife was great. We ended up doing everything without her since he was born at 4am, she showed up an hour later (we lived in the mountains at the time).
Another family she was following ended up having some moderate problem following the birth I think it was like a hemmorage of the woman or some crap like that. Anyhow we had to testify in writing for her hearing with the medical board. She had her license stripped for like 6 months.
They want you the second you come out of the womb. Cut that umbilical cord before all the blood gets out. Take the kid away from mom. No bonding. Paperwork. Bag it tag it. Inject some stuff. What? Who knows.
You can get away from it, but they make it as hard as they can. Your offspring belong to the state. Tax cattle. For life.
Yes there are some risks with home birth and in fact we ended up going to the hospital anyway for the one we planned. Luckily we did know about a lot of the things you mentioned but it was very difficult dealing with the hospital for the cord, shots/ointment and especially circumcision. The Catholic hospital hounded us to cut his dick off to the point where I had to get very angry. Eight years later at a non-Catholic hospital, they asked once and never again so not sure if that's progress or just less jewey hospital. Birth has always had risks but it should be up to mother/father to decide how to proceed.
The plan was to have the birth at the midwife's house. Turns out, she was very tired from another birth and should have sent us to her back-up. Midwife kind of panicked thinking she couldn't find the heartbeat, called the ambulance and performed a completely unnecessary episiotomy in an attempt to get the baby out. We ended up going to the hospital with EMS and completed the birth there. The next one was planned at the hospital d/t advanced maternal age and it turns out the cord was around his neck so it was a good thing we were at the hospital in case he didn't bounce back. Luckily he did fine on his own but it was scary none the less.
Truth. Surprisingly in 2019 they at least didn't give us any trouble about skipping Hep B/ eye ointment/ circumcision there, although the cord was cut sooner than I wanted b/c of his issues. Had to fight about all that stuff first time around. I'm glad to hear you guys were able to have a successful birth at home. So much better for everyone and the way it's been done for the bulk of human history.
There are midwives and doulas in IL but they work in birthing centers or hospitals. We are close enough to MO that we planned a homebirth over there. Ended up having to go to the hospital anyway but at least we tried.
Almost everything in IL is retarded lol. Pretty sure they can't do anything if you accidentally have your kid at home. It's been awhile for us but at that time there were no doulas/midwives willing to plan a home birth b/c they would have their licenses stripped. Not sure the state could do much to the parent but it would probably get you a case with DCFS or something like that.
