The moon is an artifact.
It may be a spaceship from eons ago or a captured planetoid like Ceres, but it's not a natural satellite.
Before we abandoned the Apollo Missions, one of the tests we did was to crash the used lunar lander into the surface of the moon after seismic instruments were placed from the Sea of Tranquility to Archimedes Crater.
