from 1760 to 1860 285k slaves of african decent were brought into USA. (theres some talk of breeding 4 million domestically, but after much research, I am finding no real data on that and my back-of-the pnumbers say that didn't happen. where did the food for these 4 million come from?
There's no record of this type/level of extra ag output from the south, as well as slaves were titled and papered. They were of super high value and you had to register and title them with the slave houses to get insurance and protections. There simply is no record of these folks in the registry books and there were very few "off-the-books" slaves.
So then, 99.9% of the imported ones went to the southern states.
They did not "BUILD" anything. they were used almost exclusively as farm equipment in the south. They did not actually physically "build" anything.
You see, building jobs were paying jobs for whitey, Guild jobs...masons, shirners, long shoreman and those folks were not giving up their paying jobs. There were many confrontations and riots over this exact subject.
In fact, one of the major reason for the civil wars was this. No outsourcing the only paying jobs around to blackie...
Sure... that one RR bridge in atlanta was built by slaves, some loading docks and warehouses in Mississippi, when they rebuilt the capitol building, some loggger had a few slaves to cut down trees... but thats it.
So then it can be argued then that the economic output of the south, with its taxes (very few) flowing north, helped build america.
except.... all of that wealth was lost in the last two years of the war when those wild men, Grant and Sherman and then Sheridan, showed up and burnt the south to the ground. Literally, burnt every mother fucking thing down to the ground that they could.
It could also be argued that after the war, during reconciliation and rebuilding, the south had to PAY enormous amounts of sums up north for "reparations" wiping out much of the remain wealth of the south.
Then blackie got freed and got to go to work as "freemen" for the RR and that lasted about a year or so after the war, before the RR had had enough of blackie and his monekyshining ways and had to go to China, India and Japan for 6 million more slaves.... these slaves actually DID build the west coast cities for the most part and the RR's... (although there does seem to be an odd hole in history with some of those buildings... were they really here before hand? I'm not sure yet...but something is off with those timelines...)
...funny how you never hear the chinese, indians or japanese bitching about their time as slaves in America, who vastly outnumbered the black slaves but that is another story, for another time.
Because slavery was abolished before that photo was taken. Cameras didn't become widespread till 1900. Skyscrapers weren't built until after slavery was abolished.
So slavery didn't build them? And slavery didn't build much of anything else, either. Especially considering the blacks who got enslaved couldn't build anything more complicated than a mud hut back home, while the whites who didn't even own slaves for the most part had already built grand buildings in Europe before they came here.
