The calculation is based on:

1. U.S. Life Expectancy Data:

The current U.S. life expectancy is 78.4 years (CDC, 2023).

A standard deviation of approximately 8 years is used to model mortality distribution.



2. Baby Boomer Population Estimates:

76 million baby boomers were born in the U.S. between 1946 and 1964 (U.S. Census Bureau).

Using a normal distribution of mortality, I estimated how many remain alive by 2025.



3. Demographic Modeling:

By applying a mortality distribution to the birth range (1946–1964), we estimate that 42.6% of baby boomers remain in 2025, meaning over 50% have passed.
