I wonder if he has realized we can not deter WW3 by picking sides, so he is trying to position us as peacekeepers. It kinda makes sense. We can afford to lose 100 boys a year and spend a hundred billion dollars a year to keep the peace in Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan.

I do not like this answer, but Trump realizes when he as a losing hand and deals with it as best he can.
