I see Blackbeard is out there, wondering if anyone has any input.

Cold steel. Kershaw has good price performace, but will dull faily quickly due to their edge grind. Schrade is made in china and a great value...but it's chinese of course.

I bought that Estwing one and it's an absolute beast.

Ontario knife, supplier to the US Army since Vietnam, maybe earlier.

I have a cold steel, 1045 steel, seems nice. Haven't done anything special with it though.

Condor, Imacasa and Martindale get good reviews too.

I bought a Condor bushcraft Parang. First use on hard wood, Oak branches and the edge had waves as if I was hitting Ebony or Lignum Vitae.
I consider it a loss of money.

Tell that to the chips in mine. Garbage. I won't buy another Gerber blade.

That's probaboly why I only rated it as decent, as opposed top better than merely decent. I only use it to chop pieces of these damned toxic waste nigger african pencil bush monstrosities back. They're made of pure poison, and that machete is the best thing to cleanly chop away a few branches at a time to not get to much toxic sap on me, while I manage to also make sure to get as much toxic sap as I can on the crackhead retard illegally parked cars underneath as possible. It's not just poisonous, it also ruins paint nicely!

A real Parang, from Indonesia are great. Made from leaf springs, over 1/4" thick , weight is in the thickness.
Face looks slim but it's a great design.

Is it for trailblazing? Get a spade instead - one that can adjust its angle and can be sharpened to use as a machete as well.

Cold steel has a good gladius style machete, and a cutlass style one with hand guard…

I got the kopis machette, like a big kukhri with a handguard. A bit thin, but carbon steel.

Can you use a big esse? Kukuri? Something like that?

I’ve never held one in my hand.

Great knives. I might buy one for my boy one day. Better than I would ever get for myself.
