So, it can be done! I stopped smoking, it is now 2 weeks without damn cigarettes! (yay)

submitted by snowpeach to TellUpgoat 4 monthsJan 26, 2025 20:47:14 ago (+56/-1)     (TellUpgoat)

I have to admit, I avoided any news these two weeks, just peaked today here, and almost grabbed that last cig I have, when seeing system posting about something lol.

Anyways, I had some help, got some viral pneumonia with high fever, otherwise I think I would not be able to do it... first 5 days, not sure if was the fever or some side effect, bc I was seeing things, going trough some portals and other weird shit.

But I just want to let you know you all you niggerfaggots and nice ladies here, that if I did it, it CAN be done.

Because I tried before, and it was mission impossible, I could hurt probably anyone stopping me, I was like some junkie even after one day. This time it all went smooth, maybe because I was literally not eating for few days either.

The best thing is this freedom.

I forgot how this feels, freedom. Not to worry for the next day. Health is way beyond freedom, I was smoking about 15-17 per day, didn't affect me physically yet.

So, yeah. I'm happy. :)
Still a bit sick from pneumonia, and I'm afraid to risk to get too excited about some politics, and wanting to light one again... but I'll be back here for sure.

If you quit smoking too and have some advice for me, I'll be happy to read it. I know 14 days is almost nothing, but I have true will this time. And just enough hate too, I figured why I started with cigs in first place, was this my shitty narcisstic family, and actually it is a miracle I'm even alive with ppl like that in your childhood. But who cares now.

Freeeeedom! :p

congratulations, man. i've had about 4 smokes since the new year. it's a lot easier knowing they're pretty obviously putting something nasty in them and have been for a while.

[ - ] snowpeach [op] 2 points 4 monthsJan 26, 2025 20:55:47 ago (+2/-0)

great to hear, yeah, here this EU started to do the same, last year I often was lucky to get packs from some friends, not sure from where that even was coming, but marlboro silver or some other brand, it was a totally different tobacco inside as they would sell it here. So, now they can go to hell. :)

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 1 point 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 23:10:22 ago (+1/-0)

theyve always put nasty stuff in it. chop chop tastes like complete shit and burns quick as fuck.

all the chemicals were for taste, even burning, addiction.

apples are good for you right? so what would happen if someone turned around and demanded apples get injected with chemicals to make them MORE healthy and want kids to eat them? dont think we would believe or accept it. good way to get apples banned if ever you had some kind of financial reason to (like the vegan grift)

Quitting nicotine sucks. It’s like having all of your desires, hopes, and passions removed from your mind for a few days.

But people tend to come out the other side of that hurdle just fine. Just need to figure out the hand-to-mouth thing.

Good job.

Dave Asprie says nicotine is a nootropic but Dave Aspie is a fucking faggot.

It was weird, I had a fever over 40C first five days, so I'm sure some of that "dreams" was bc quitting nicotine, I dream now like crazy, maybe this is related to it too.
I was always the most afraid to gain weight, that was the main fear for me, but seems as will not be a problem, I don't have any food cravings. Hopefully will stay this way.

[ - ] Trope 2 points 4 monthsJan 26, 2025 21:52:35 ago (+2/-0)

You can always learn to enjoy the appetite-suppressing effects of black coffee.

I removed all my food cravings by committing to a zero carb diet. My appetite has diminished so much, I’m finally losing weight. Hoping to have six pack abs by summer but time will tell. This diet is ridiculous when you combine it with eating less and or fasting.

Good for you and congrats on the freedom of not having to worry about where you're going to smoke as soon as you walk into a venue, home or restaurant. Congrats on not having to worry about how many cigarettes you have left. Congrats on the thousands of dollars you now have available.

That said, I met some of the best people and got into places some didn't or wouldn't dare because I smoked. I still miss it.

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 7 points 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 00:14:39 ago (+7/-0)

yeah thats what shits me off about the whole 'venue' thing... ok so no smoking indoors no issue, but the shit is still perfectly legal so banning people from smoking in public or forcing them to walk 10 minutes on a 15 minute break to the 'designated' spot is unlawful discrimination, ban them because theyre dangerous, or keep them legal and taxed because it pays for the entire states health care system (it does where im from, no speeding fines no tobacco tax no gambling tax the politicians have to steal their money directly from the state budged and the state goes bankrupt.

coffee drinkers waste epically more time now, and have just as big of a drug dependancy and resulting withdrawal and shit behaviour justifying their behaviour than smokers do. its not ok to go outside for 5 minutes for a cigarette, but its ok to leave your desk for a refill and a chat every 10 mminutes. go you. not to mention how angry faggots get when they cant get their pumpkin spice or purple halloween topping from starfucks.

Seriously, I tried that way too.

Under the black rain, I wander alone,
A fragile soul, a heart of stone.
The world is quiet, but I still hear,
The echoes of whispers that disappear.
And so on and so on, and eventually it will vanish, this thinking about it. But it was a huge part of what I thought I am, started at 12 years old, thinking I look smarter and older if I smoke. But in fact, I know now, I was fogging out any too extreme emotions, so that I was able to be cool. Something like that. I have a real hate for that ppl now.

Forget all the psychobabble, the best way to get sober, clean and tobacco free is to get a 30-60-90 day county jail ticket.

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 4 points 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 00:08:53 ago (+4/-0)

... or you could not be a degenerate and find other things to occupy yourself.

i mean never being a methhead or a drunk jail has never been an option of any kind for most normal people but you do you.

[ - ] Anus_Expander 2 points 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 08:35:44 ago (+2/-0)

Every time I got out of jail, the first thing I wanted was cigs and beer

[ - ] TheOriginal1Icemonkey 1 point 4 monthsJan 28, 2025 22:42:06 ago (+1/-0)

Smokes and a beer for sure. Jail did get me off the crank back in ‘95. I slept the whole 90 days.

Been 12 years now and I still like the smell of 2nd hand smoke.

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz 0 points 4 monthsJan 28, 2025 19:21:14 ago (+0/-0)

my old man hates the smell now, i'm sure you'll do too after having lung surgery and cancer. whatever tickles your pickle as they say.

[ - ] bohmoonx 2 points 4 monthsJan 26, 2025 22:19:12 ago (+2/-0)

Cost, habit, coughing and being sick was what kept me from going back. Everything is going to trigger the desire to smoke so it doesn't matter what you are doing, suck it up buttercup and deal with it. It's like breaking up with that girl in high school and then she tells you she is pregnant. Remember manufacturers spent years adding other chemicals like acetaldehyde to make nicotine extremely addictive.

Throw that shit away immediately, or you WILL relapse.

[ - ] Peleg 0 points 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 07:48:05 ago (+0/-0)

No.
It's a psychological thing. You NEED that one cig that is always there and you NEED to choose to NOT smoke it.

At least that's how it is for a lot of people.

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 0 points 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 23:06:20 ago (+0/-0)

im going to absolutely back that. you go 'right im quitting, ill start by leaving my smokes at home' first thing you do is go 'shit left my smokes at home gotta get more' - its part of the habit. i kept a packet with me unopened, and never had the urge to get more. Thats even bigger in australia because cigarettes are a fucking rort to the point where a 50 pack is now more than a hundred dollars so past about 9pm, you decide then you want a smoke, instead of getting a cheap tax free pack for $15 you end up going to 7-11 and paying fucking $45

only two things that ever did it for me was nicorette spray, still go out for your smoke breaks, but before you go, have a spray of that then go stand outside for however long youd smoke and come back in. but that only worked when i was doing desk/management jobs.

on the road jobs - number 1 thing that did it for me was renting a fucking mercedes where i was told flat out i would not get away with smoking in, hinting at me 'yes you did a pretty decent job of covering it up in the shit cheap cars we gave you before... buuuuuuuut' with a $1000 cleaning charge if they caught me - lost my bond on it, but that was because a little shit of a client with outriggers on his wheelchair repeatedly backed into the fucking thing and chipped ceramic paintwork off the skirts.... could have killed him... but about the most inappropriate car i could have doing that job. (His mum asked if i wanted them to pay for it.... nah. not her fault. pretty much mine for having the stupid thing in the first place)

but oh fuck fully opening sunrooves are a million percent a blessing when one of your clients is one of those fuckers who does laundry about as often as he showers. never. no water at home. fuckers a hoarder.

anyway, t;dr between nicorette, expensive rented cars, and fucking disgusting smelling people i have to work with, the smoking stopped pretty quick.

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 2 points 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 00:07:19 ago (+2/-0)

ima back that, can be done. have been on and off them a couple of times for a year or so at a time.

last time around was a case of paying stupid amounts of rent on a car, that i would be charged $1000 for if they caught me smoking. to the point where 'you know how you werent supposed to smoke in that MG trucks? yeah dont smoke in this one. no really dont smoke in it... NO. DO. NOT. SMOKE. IN. IT.' my job on the road im driving all the time so it was decent rented car plus nicorette spray. worked.

the fucking retarded amount you have to pay for smokes in australia that i wasnt paying any more actually paid for half the rent on a Merc CLA250.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 00:38:25 ago (+1/-0)

Good for you. I quit years ago an it was a great decision. I quit and restarted a bunch of times. But my smoke free periods started to get longer and longer. Finally I got a few months under my belt and that was it. Maybe 20 years ago.

I still had occassional cravings for about a year. Second hand smoke smelled kind of good to me for about that long and then one day it smelled gross and I knew that the addiction had truly died in my brain ( there are probably some neural connections that function in the addiction and eventually get pared back )

Anyway its been so long since I craved a ciggy. Yes the freedom is wonderful. My lungs and throat are so much better.

I take astaxanthin as this antioxident has been shown to reduce lung cancer incidence in ex-smokers. Don’t supplement vitamin A, which leads to increased lung cancer in ex-smokers.

I quit smoking cigarettes 3 years ago because it was just to damn expensive. I could no longer justify spending 2 to 3 hundred dollars a month on tobacco.

So I took up pipe smoking instead, a nice Cavendish is very delightful and a $40 bag lasts about a month.

2 weeks? Way too short. Wait a year and more, then perhaps you may have gotten rid of your addiction, but not before. Personal story: a year after not smoking, i decided to light up one sigaret again as an experiment, well, that was one too many, because i started smoking again and even more than before! Now, it's been a few decades since I quit, and just the thought of smoking makes me sick.

[ - ] Peleg 0 points 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 08:03:57 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah. I quit once for 3 months. Someone I know had a baby and passed out cigars. Not the cheap "it's a boy" cigars, but some Good hand made cigars. I thought that just one cigar in honor of the newborn wouldn't hurt. Oops. I started back and, like you, smoked more after that than I did before!

[ - ] observation1 1 point 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 04:15:25 ago (+1/-0)

Write down all your friends, acquaintances, and family members who smoke around you. Ask them (one by one) for their buy in. that you just quit and would like their help not to not offer you a smoke. "Id like your help and do not offer me a cigarette or give me any grief about not smoking."

Any that you can't approach, or won't, or dont earnestly reciprocate on your request --keep them away from you forever. Like, delete their number. Kick them out of your house. Say, "I'm sorry. I know this means we won't be having cigarette breaks together anymore but would like your support."

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 1 point 4 monthsJan 27, 2025 23:11:58 ago (+1/-0)

you sound like a complete pussy.

if youre quitting, and someone offers you a smoke, you say 'no thanks, im quitting'

got some viral pneumonia with high fever

did you got to the doctor or ER? you need antibiotics to treat this asap. plus get some inhalers so that your bronchi may dilate properly.

first 5 days, not sure if was the fever or some side effect, bc I was seeing >things, going trough some portals and other weird shit.

you were probably having some hallucinations due to infection. this is bad. did you get help for this. brain damage is not a joke neither is sepsis

I was smoking about 15-17 per day, didn't affect me physically yet.

if you were smoking that much per day you could have emphysema and i'm sorry to say this you could have cancer in the future. my old man used to smoke just 2-4 a day and after he quit he got lung cancer and yes it happened 20-30 years after quitting

anyways, i'm happy that you quit, but you need to see how really you'll do long term and by that i mean 3 months, 6 months or a year from now. best wishes for your health.

[ - ] snowpeach [op] 1 point 4 monthsJan 28, 2025 17:09:58 ago (+1/-0)

Thanks, but I think I could use some brain damage :)

I did all pulmo tests couple of years ago, and strangely enough I got results of +10 years younger nonsmoker... I made that doc test me again, bc I said must be some mistake, but it was not. So I didn't went to ER on purpose, I would not get antibiotics anyways, but I knew this is the chance I will not get twice soon.

I do think now that getting myself unintentionally into fasting ketosis helped that all went so smooth without any insane nicotine cravings I had before when I tried to quit. I will sure check this when I'll have time; basically I was not eating more than 72 hours because of that fever, so could be ketosis that helped me quit too. Interesting for sure.

I was a 1.5 pack a day smoker for 30 years. Quit about 50 times. Finally quit for good 4 years ago, very glad. I do vape, but barely. To those who have tried and failed...try again. Nicotine patches do help. Mainly you should cultivate anger and hatred to guide you. I became PISSED at turning into a jew slave. I quit alcohol the same way, ANGRY at being a jew slave. Lots of 'doomed' people have quit, and you can too. Try again.
