Not sure what to do here.

My father died 22 years ago. It took me several years to finally understand and accept what happened. My stepmother killed him for insurance and lottery money. All signs point to her and it’s obvious as hell. I was in the military at the time and there was nothing I could do about it and then afterwards I sank into a deep depression and had my own problems for years. It’s burning me up inside knowing what happened and she got away with it. I don’t know what to do now. I considered hiring a private investigator or something but not sure. I can share more details about the story and I think anyone will agree with me that she did it. Well her son probably did it but she made the decision. Please give me something to think about. I need some closure on this.

Your father’s choices got him to where he ended up. It has nothing to do with you or your decisions. It wasn’t his fault either but you somehow blame yourself for not being able to do something about it. Avenging him will not bring you any peace. The effort will just consume you and taint your soul. It’s better for you to accept that it happened and go on with your life and your quest for peace in your heart.

You have to start with the local PD. They will do a cursory 'investigation' that will go nowhere. Then, hire a PI. He will charge lots of money, and maybe get results. You can take those to the PD and the local DA. At least you tried to do something, even if it's years later. Contact a local newspaper if it all goes nowhere, a story might motivate LE to dig a little harder.
