Newsgroups and BBSs

You kiddies need to know about these because they may prove to be the only way to preserve any kind of a truly independent interlinking communication system like the internet was originally designed to be.

Whereas websites are hosted on third party computer systems usually and rely on a domain name which you must register and can be taken away from you as a address to find your content bbs's were self-hosted communication bulletin boards that you hosted on your own computer at home that was linked to the internet and all the other bulletin boards via the bulletin board system which was an alternative to the centrally registered domain name internet. Every so often all the bbs's knew each other's internet link number and would contact each other at pre-programmed times to resync all the information so that the messages from one board could be synchronized with messages from other boards anywhere in the world you could therefore read content from people all over the world and have discussions with them. It avoided the domain name registry which really wasn't even invented yet and BBs systems still exist and the software to run bbs's still exist for free which you can download people probably should start doing it again.

News groups are another alternative to standard domain name internet systems and they are discussion groups that use a different methodology to communicate and long form text and image topic oriented discussions or content but they aren't hosted on a website it's a completely different sort of a protocol other than website oriented internet. You don't read them through a browser you read them through News group readers. There are a lot harder to censor and control. They've existed since pretty much the beginning of the internet and therefore the old content on these news groups is fantastic stuff.

They were kind of bastardized as Google and up and Yahoo began to sort of archive the news group contents via their websites sort of converting them into something that you access through their websites and then people started posting through their websites so a lot of that new content wasn't reflected back into the original news groups. And then for example Yahoo and Google both destroyed a lot of their content they were hosting losing this information from regular people which had been posted for a decade or more forever.

Nonetheless news groups still exist and if you get a News group reader you will discover them and you can almost think of them sort of as subreddits and that you can find a News group about politics or about science or about very specific things and the discussions are as far as I know still basically uncensored. Now unfortunately this also means you can find a bunch of image news groups that are going to deal exclusively in all kinds of weird shit so be careful and don't accidentally download stuff that can get you into trouble but the discussions in the alternative to the centrally domain name registered stuff or using an app which all are very controlled and cut and censored and like tick tock can just be shut down by Jews at any time you know news groups are something different.

Oh and it might not hurt to buy a CB radio. It's the one form of radio communication that you can do without a license and while the range sucks it's still kind of amazing to be able to pick up a microphone and broadcast to anybody listening within a couple of miles and have discussions via voice. They were huge in the 1970s but unfortunately it's very rare to find people on them today but it's a technology that you should know about.

Censorship resistant forms of communication need to be documented with an "idiot's guide"

I never ran a BBS because I never had a computer fast enough to support the software. But I knew quite a number of BBS sysops. With the exception of a few, they were all computer hobbyists who did it for fun. It was an expensive hobby, so not a lot of people got into it.

bonus fact - wolfenstein 3d was great to play in the library at school because it had a soundblaster so you got the full 'DUSTPIPE!' 'AH! MEIN LIEBEN!' sfx, and the full music sound track.
didnt realise until about 10 years ago playing the theme song in germany would get you jailed.

They have restricted/reallocated the bands that CB Radios operated on so that CB Radios are all but worthless.
