I grabbed one while snorkeling in a local spring not knowing what it was and immediately let go when my fingers sunk into its shell. He was about that size. Later, when I was looking up some info on them, I was surprised to find out they are one of the most vicious species of turtle and can rip your fingers off with their powerful bite. Don't ever F with a softshell turtle.
