Actually, it seems Trump could pardon him federally since Chauvin was convicted on two federal charges - one for excessive force on George Floyd, and another for excessive force on some unnamed 14 year old boy(?). He's currently serving a 21 year sentence in a federal pen in TX.

However, he was also convicted on the state charges of third degree murder and given a 22 year sentence which runs concurrently with the federal one, so while Trump could issue a pardon for the federal charges, he couldn't do anything about the state charges.
