Refurbished Italian-made Rossi espresso grinder originally from a local cafe. Setting the stage for the espresso machine which will tap into the sink using a copper line and filtration system.

Was anticipating at least one comment like this. I’m just glad it’s you, Trumpman.

next thing you know he's gonna manually press his espresso shot and watch it dribble into the cup

GAY

Me and a based friend got espresso makers the same week and had the talk about how it's not gay, it's just effective caffeine delivery. May it power many good White People things.

so, you had to convince each other it's not gay?? NOTHING could be gayer.

It's only gay if your beans touch.

I want an electric ceramic burr grinder. There used to be available a hand-crank ceramic burr grinder made by some Americans. It was always sold out but the company went tits up.

My understanding is Ditting makes the highest quality grinders. There’s a little tabletop one that sits at one of the cafes near my house.

These damn things are thousands of dollars but will last a lifetime.

The Baratza Vario Ceramic Flat Burr grinder used to be made in Italy, now Taiwan. I would love to find new old stock on that model.

They make them with ceramic burrs too, but the 40mm Conical Steel burrs have worked great for me for years. $150 at the most.

Have you ever used a ceramic burr grinder? I swear I taste a difference when the burrs are steel, however cool the steel stays. I wore out my elbows with a hario manual grinder. Using a very large expensive spice grinder at the momento.

This has been my only grinder since I realized how lame a blade grinder is. My biggest variable in taste is the roast.

I have one of these.
Flawless performance for 12-13 years.
My only complaint is the little plastic tab under the ground coffee container that's supposed to hold it in place has lost its flexibility and the container creeps out because of the vibration.
I just set a cup against it, so not a big deal.

[ - ] Sector2 1 point 4 monthsJan 22, 2025 18:51:40 ago (+1/-0)

That tab is supposed to stick up enough to nestle into the depression in the bottom of the grounds holder. What if you put a drop of (super?)glue on the top of that tab to build it higher again? More drops if one isn't enough.

Or maybe carefully use a hair dryer to heat it enough so you could bend it into a higher position again.

I like your idea about super glue. Thanks.
It's really not much of an issue. I'm so used to plopping my coffee cup in front of it while it's running that I don't even think about it anymore.

[ - ] Trope [op] 1 point 4 monthsJan 22, 2025 18:16:26 ago (+1/-0)

I have experience with La Cimbali from my youth.

Check out the La Cimbali DT1 Junior. Commercial grade and runs on 120V.

I thought it was the machine that you wanted?

will tap into the sink using a copper line and filtration system.

Idk if it matters to you but water filters don't remove the flouride in your drinking water if your not on a well.

Maybe the coffee will hide the taste? Maybe buy a gallon of spring water from the grocery store?

Regarding municipal tap water, I’m even more concerned with the atrazine. This estrogenic endocrine disrupter has been found in high amounts in every lake, river, and stream.

My goal is to eventually get a La Cimbali but I could not say no to the price on this one.

Would you say you're about to make that you espresso?
