Oh yea that's my point every time the Western conquest of them comes up. They were maybe, maybe a Stone Age society. The entire rest of the civilized world was Steel Age... which was what, anywhere from thousands to millions of years apart? They didn't have the agricultural development of the West either, so I'm thinking at least 10's of thousands of years of difference in civilizational development.

So what were we going to do? "Oh hold off guys, let's give them a few dozen millenia to catch up. Let's just stop all civilizational development everywhere for the foreseeable future until these guys catch up." Completely feasible outcome I'm sure.

Now maybe it's like the Prime Directive in Star Trek TNG. Maybe development is asymptotic, and if you just leave a civilization alone, eventually they'll catch up. But certainly not at this point... we're in the fucking Silicon Age now FFS. Even Steel Age people would have their minds blown.

I don't totally agree with this. I think Indians living in the cold climate areas had to work together. There were Indians building pretty big mud structures in Arizona and new mexico.
