I found a picture of you oh
what hijacked my world that night
to a place in the past
we've been cast out of oh
now we're back in the fight
we're back on the train yeah oh.

A circumstance beyond our control oh
the phone, t.v. and the news of the world
got in the house like a pigeon from hell oh
threw sand in your eyes and descended like flies
put us back on the train yeah oh
back on the chain gang.

The powers that be
that force us to live like we do
bring me to my knees
when I see what they've done to you.

But I'll die as I stand her today
knowing that deep in my heart
they'll fall to ruin one day
for making us apart.

I found a picture of you oh
those were the happiest days of my life
now we're back on the train
oh back on the chain gang.

Like a break in the battle was your part oh
in the wretched life of a lonely heart
now we're back on the train
oh back on the chain gang.

I really think that the seventies and I guess you could argue that the 60s through the period of the '80s was the highlight of musical expression because it combined all the previous techniques of actual instrument playing with the new electronic means for amplification and augmentation. Since that time people have lost the ability to actually play instruments or even sing and it's all heavily modified electronically and prior to that time we had none of the very interesting acoustic effects that you get from electronically enhancing or amplifying acoustic human played instruments and singing. So I think it's sort of the peak. It's where the maximum skill level was needed combined with the maximum technological amplification and enhancement of that human skill level. And now the human skill level is not needed at all and it's all electronic amplification and mostly enhancement of people who can't really play music and who can't really sing. And of course the ultimate expression of that is now ai can completely create a song including vocals without anybody touching anything other than giving it a text message to create a song in a certain style. And by the way that's a really fun thing to do and I highly recommend suno.com or udio.com

Holy crap. I remember listening to this song on the radio in the USA as a kid. I just knew it was a catchy tune I had no idea about the lyrics. Good stuff.

That's pretty much my experience with every single song I ever heard. I rarely listen to the lyrics. Usually that would be one line in the song that would be heard and you would think that's what the song meant and then you would find that that lyric actually meant the opposite of what you thought it did. Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA is a perfect example.

So listening to these lyrics really for the first time having heard the song a hundred times and liked it. It's interesting that the way it's sung it sounds like being back on the chain gang is a good thing back in the saddle kind of a way sort of back in the fight back doing the good thing participating being there making things happen. But now looking at all the lyrics I really wonder if the way it sung is wrong because it really should be sung as that is a very depressing and bad thing to be back on the chain gang. After all a chain gang is usually not a place you want to be. But it's a perfect example of a catchy sort of happy pop tune that disguises really Disturbed lyrics that no one paid attention to because we were all just listening to the catchy pop tune and looking at this very strange woman and trying to decide whether or not she was good looking or not. That was always the case with Chrissy hind of the pretenders is is she good looking or isn't she.

Funny.

Now the music kids a lot like the theater kids usually we're really kind of disturbed people who didn't get along with other humans and they often were very into the lyrics of music and they would look to music and the lyrics of songs to guide their life probably because they had fatherless families or other self-destructive kind of problematic childhoods. These were the people that became music programmers and tried to force horrible music on us later and then somebody like a Britney Spears would come along and rescue us all with her poppy sexy tunes sung by a good looking girl when the people who are the music programmers who wanted us to listen to horrible lyrics and took them all way too seriously we're trying to keep us from watching people like Britney spears.

Music kids were like theater kids but we're even worse looking and more gay.

"as she is known to be a strong defender of the rights of animals yet seems to care nothing for the rights of Palestinians."

Rebel Voice needs to understand that jews consider Palestinians, and All the other peoples of the world, to be animals, including you.
