I mean, also it's going to be cold. They're forecasting temps in the 20s (which are down from previous forecasts) and snow in my neck of the FL panhandle. Also, where I'm at, the temps are usually about 3-5 degrees cooler than the forecast (sometimes up to 10 degrees cooler). My fruit trees are going to suffer dammit.

here in miami we are going to be in the upper 60's/low 70's for highs and 50's for lows they say that due to the orientation of the through that the bitter cold weather wont be coming this far south lol

Kek my Floridian I am an Indiana (aka "Hoosier") transplant that used to camp in the weekends of January for fun. Yea me and a bunch of buddies would try to choose the coldest weekend of the year and go to a state park and camp through it. We've ice fished on these excursions, and some of the outings have seen temps as low as -4 (-15 with windchill, °F of course).

I'll be good - I went up to IN 3 Christmases ago when we rolled into town with -1 temps. The next day I was playing in it with my dogs. My FL native kids only lasted about 10 minutes, but I was out there for over an hour playing with the dogs in the snow because I'm good with cold. All that to say I'll be good, my man. But again, my poor figs and hopefully not my loquat or myers lemon, but... I've done my best with covering them. I could run heaters out to them, but... nah.

I'm not looking forward to the driving though. Even up north that's still a problem in slick weather. No one ever learns it seems. I remember I-65 everyone drives fucking 90 mph no matter the weather until someone wrecks and then suddenly everyone's all "oh my look how dangerous it is suddenly who could have ever foreseen this?" Fucking assholes.

i wouldnt last a second in that type of weather. but yeah you are using your smarts about covering your plants and staying away from the road during this event and its true we floridians do drive crazy so yes we should see and hears lots of traffic accidents during the event. we never learn down here!

I've come to appreciate both ends of the spectrum from living down here. The hot humid is MUCH more difficult to deal with than whatever cold the north has to offer. And I've known this my whole life honestly - I've always been of the opinion that with cold, you can always put on more layers. But with heat... I mean, you can only get so naked.

But FL heat is even worse - I used to run distance until I moved to FL. Then suddenly sweat just stopped working, because sweat only works if it can evaporate (which cools you, because evaporation is an endothermic process). But sweat can't evaporate in FL, because it's fucking 100% humidity all the time! There's nowhere for the sweat to evaporate to, so you just end up stewing in your own juices!

I mean, I've learned to cope with it, don't get me wrong. But the heat in FL sucks way more than the cold in the North - it's undebatable fact. I consider myself much more badass working through a summer here than I do surviving a winter up there, no question about it.

When I see “I mean” at the start of any sentence/ paragraph I immediately know that the person typing is a fucking retard.
