Toyota, the top selling automobile brand in the world with 11T in revenue and 500B in profit, is valued at 300B market cap. Tesla had 25B in sales and 2.2B in profit - market capitalization 1.3T.

Musk might be. There is nothing to indicate by his behavior that he possesses any degree of competence. Gates and Jobs were salesmen. Musk can’t sell shit. Most of his “fortune” is Tesla stock that is massively overvalued. Without continued subsidies and government contracts his worth will be a fraction. At least Microsoft sold billions of copies of software and Apple sold hundreds of millions of phones. Tesla isn’t making much money versus the competition. The bottom is going to fall out eventually.
