These comments are completely wrong for the current use. The current "honk" reaction references the "clown world" meme, which is used when reality is so absurd that it feels like a joke a clown would tell. It's generally used in a right wing context when something so far left wing happens that it's ridiculous, but is being used in more and more contexts as the days go. The meaning will surely change over time due to how relatively new this usage is
