And inbred like crazy. The stereotype of white inbred hillbillies is projection. Think how many inner city blacks have no idea who their father is, how many classmates have the same father, whether they know it or not. I worked at a black school in a medium sized city (40k) and it was astounding how many of them were "cousins". That was their catch-all term for someone you lived with, or were somehow related, or maybe just grew up around, because they were so ignorant of their actual lineage.

Back in the day a lot of folk didn't wear shoes in the south. Because it was warm enough for most of the year they could get away with it, and shoes were expensive. Unfortunately, this lead to lots and lots and lots of footworm and (some) tetanus infections. Which makes you look like a slack-jawed yokel. Those who could afford medical treatment went back to being normal-looking folk.

Of course jews took this, twisted it, and produced the hillbilly stereotype. Which they still push today.

Hookworms. They grow in human feces so if you don't dig your outhouse deep enough they can actually tunnel up to the surface and into your bare feet. They cause lethargy and "brain fog" which supposedly helped the stereotype of southerners being lazy and stupid.
