I went to a church and didn't like it

I was invited to a new year celebration at a church. I had nothing better to do so I went.

Everyone in the church was White with Slavic background. Service started with some performances and some words from the pastor. They spoke in Russian with strong accents and some words wrong.

Then everyone got on their knees and prayed to god out yelling praises in different languages. It was very chaotic.

Then another performance.

And another round of yelling prayers.

One guy asks the two pastors to pray for him. So they put their hands on his shoulder and start yelling stuff. One of the pastors is speaking in tongues like WOLOLOLO and his face is all red.

Then there is an after party. A youth pastor gives a speech about how they went to Africa and expelled demons from Africans. I think to myself that these Africans rape virgins to cure aids and its easy to trick them into pretending.

Then there is a round of prayer. The guy on my left is praying in hebrew, ADONAI ELOHIM ASHER ASHAM or whatever. Others are yelling in tongues WOLOLOLOLO. Very chaotic.

Later I'm introducing myself to some guy and I say the word bullshit. He recoils.

Someone asks me my thoughts and I try to explain how wasteful the efforts in Africa are but the guys head is in the clouds and he's not even hearing me.

I inquire from another person regarding how the organization is structured and if its run by one guy or a group or what. And the person I'm speaking with seems to think I'm implying their church is a for profit organization and gets defensive. I state that a church can't be for profit by definition and leave with no clarification.

People are asked for their new year resolutions, and most of them reply saying that they want to get closer to god or read the bible more.

Some thoughts,

The prayer was very chaotic and I did not like it at all. A lot of yelling. I did not like that they spoke in tongues. I did not like that one of the main guys was praying in Hebrew. I did not like that they go to Africa.

Matter of fact, if I was looking for a holy place I'd be better aligned visiting a mosque than this type of church.

Also when they are making those WOLOLOLO noises trying to speak in tongues. They are just pretending. It is obvious and stupid. They're trying to channel god into speaking though what they're gonna get is some jin.

i swear that speaking in tounges is summoning demons. You are right that chaotic feeling ..its intentional to trick you into feeling something I swear they pump some sort of vibraton in those rooms but it feels like evil and I book it every time.

They like to pretend they don’t know the verses in 1Timothy 5:8 about how any man that doesn’t provide for his household, especially his relatives (implying household means more than even your relation) has DENIED the faith and is WORSE than an unbeliever… (specifically talking about material things)
Essentially as soon as someone in your county or state (maybe nation) is starving, every dollar and hour of foreign charity is an open act of rejection of god.


Also when they are making those WOLOLOLO noises trying to speak in tongues. They are just pretending.

These types of Christian’s specialize in pretending they don’t know the verse saying there’s always supposed to be elders there to translate the tongues in to English..

Literally millions show up in a field…. For the trucks full of rice they brought. And produced nothing as far as peace and prosperity.

And that's the problem I have talking with religious people. I can speak the truth but if I don't reference it in their book it falls on deaf ears. No different than the redditor that needs a source for everything.

Oh it still falls on def ears even if you do.
Or it just triggers their “defend the faith” impulse, and they create new religion on the spot pretending to counter with other verses or purity spiral on that one.
Either way prepare to watch exactly what cognitive dissonance looks like.

Man this site isn’t much better these days. Not for the “source” bullshit, but almost any logical fallacy I’ve pointed out in the last couple months is met with completely incoherent bullshit that doesn’t even make sense. Just deny no matter what.

I do none of those things. I don’t do church either. I am no biblical scholar but i dont think the bible says anything about “if you’re looking to find me, go to some building and talk to some dude in a gown. He will tell you what I say in this book here that you’re already reading.”

Yeah, sounds like Episcopalian. I am sorry you had that experience. What’re you looking for in terms of a church? I like conservatism and churches that don’t bend their knees to the spawns of Satan (jews). That is why we are switching from Roman Catholicism to Greek Orthodox. I cannot say that I am right by any means, I hope I am, but no one knows that is alive. The furthest I would go down Protestantism would be Lutheran. Everything after that is like your creepy uncle who gets too touchy at family Christmas

The guy who invited me did so because he knows I'm single and there's a bunch of hot women there. But he also wants me to join his church.

3/4 of the bible was written in hebrew. The rest was written by people who’s first language was hebrew ( well aramaid but close enough.)

The early conception of Yahweh was something like a djinn. He was a jealous desert god, one of many other gods that the hebrews believed existed. When reading parts of the OT, he seemd like a djinn to me.

Any of these “modern” churches where everything is either chaotic, loud, or a rock concert are really quite terrible and an insult to the church.

Choir, organ, some sermons, prayers, songs, beautiful interior with great community is where it’s at.

Try an Asatru Folk Assembly event some time. 100% white, they worship European Gods instead of sand merchants, and their rituals at bigger events are not very chaotic (local events may vary).

theres a couple of churches around here that try and tell you 'if you cant talk in tongues then youre not really christian' im like.... pretty sure there is a thing in the bible about 'not babbling' 'tongues' isnt just flapping your gums in random gibberish shit its speaking an actual different language. This is the key part to identifying if they are actually have the spirit there as a congregation. I have only ever been to two churches where people did this. Most churches are fake and gay in this regard.
