Will sleeping on a hard wood floor fuck up my back?

Granted using a comforter and a yoga mat to help cushion

The opposite, in my opinion.
I used to get crippling lower-back pain about 3-4 times a year. Since sleeping on a thin mattress on the floor for the past 15 years it's once a year on average.

I slept for a year on a workout mat. Because I had a surgery i couldn't sleep on anything soft until muscles regrew. Then I switched to a hammock for another year. Now I'm on a firm spring bed. But I think I'll break out the hammock for the summer.

Don't. I couldn't imagine anything worse for your back than a hammock!

The hammock is excellent for your back if you know how to sleep on it. I woke up without any pain when I slept on the hammock.

I recommend a tatami mat.

Should be fine if it's flat with no protruding nail heads. Get an air mattress if it's too uncomfortable.

first couple days but after a few your body will adjust. Age might be a factor but otherwise you'll be fine.
