White culture and spiritualiry are more defined by Christianity than anything else. Paganism is too nebulous and ill-defined to have any lasting effect.
NO! As Christianity was growing, New converts to the Faith brought some of their basic secular customs with them. Their customs DID NOT define Christianity, their customs were low-level secular expressions of joy that recognized The Season of Christ in a Festive manner.
The article makes a really good point. Gathering for food and drink and exchanging gifts is pretty universal, so attributing it to pagans and then claiming Christians appropriated it is really an invalid argument.
