Hogg would never exist if that event happened today. He was manufactured by the legacy media and today he would be 'community noted' to oblivion. In the first 24 hours he fucked up several times and could not keep his story strait. The very first interview I saw of him he said "I was at home when I heard what happened so I jumped on my bike and raced down here..." the next day I saw him recounting the terror of hiding under his desk as the shooter roamed the halls. He clearly struck a deal with the press and they squashed the original video; pulled the 'don't believe your lying eyes' gaslighting BS and back then they could make that shit stick.
