Looks like they're using this opportunity to shill an even worse solution. Device based age verification. I will give up on technology and become Ted Kaczynski if something like that ever takes off. Anonymity on the internet is a non negotiable. I will not live in a world where that is not the case.

Yeah as much as I think porn is a bad influence I also understand like you do that the real goal of all this is to force identification of people so they can't speak anonymously on the internet which will stop people saying the truth about Jews and after all that's what this is all really about just like getting rid of tiktok. Down here in Australia they recently passed legislation banning under 16s accessing sites like Instagram, Snapchat etc. There is no way to prove your age other than by getting yourself a digitalID (which of course was the intention all along).

But get this: Pornhub and Tinder are not on the banned list. Under 16s are free to use those sites... Just tick the box to "confirm" you're over 18 and off you go.

I do understand pornhub not being banned, although tinder is in a gray area.

My understanding of the intent is to prevent the social media influences and addiction - which is likes and comments about a teen's posted content. Pornhub would seem more of a "download" content to the user, whereas Instagram is all about "upload" content from and about the user, which leads to the social influence aspect.

Tinder is a profile, not necessarily a life journey like Instagram is. And while Tinder does provide some feedback, it isn't in the same league as Instagram.

Meanwhile plenty of other porn sites work. It 100% is about id'ing people on the internet.

Pretty soon this age-verification cookie will be able to transfer between sites. Then there will be enough people with the age-verification cookie that sites can afford to exclude people without it even for normal sites as a way to combat bots. Then everyone will have to id to use the internet.

They are creating problems that all seem to point to a solution they've always wanted.
