None of this should be surprising to any native NYC resident who isn’t a brainwashed Marxist retard. They choose to roam the streets because that’s where the drugs are. The shelter will not let them come in and out at night in search of booze and crack, so they don’t want to be there. It’s just that simple.

A shelter may not be sanitary compared to a middle class home, but they have showers, sinks, first aid, packaged food, clothes washers/dryers. It is MUCH more sanitary than laying on the floor of the subway station in yours and everyone else’s filth and milling around trash cans for food.

Shelters are worse than the streets and I am not a drug user. First thing a shelter does is assessment.
Not over you either, it is over what you have or what you can do for them. They are unsanitary and often unsafe.
Plus they make crazy rules and show great preference for some.
Added that many homeless just don't want to be a part of society.
