It's a game the manufacturers have to play with the EPA and NHTSA. Every year to (avoid) mileage and emissions requirements the trucks wheel base has to get bigger than the previous model and they have to offer a certain percentage of fuel efficient cars to offset the inefficient ones people like to buy.

It's a mess. It's government fixing things like only a government can do.

My grandfather was a union bricklayer his whole post war life, and he drove an el Camino back when he was still working. I spent a lot of time with him before he passed, and one of his favorite stories was of the day he bought that car. See, grandma didn't like it. She wanted the Monte Carlo. So instead of arguing with her, he bought both. That el Camino was still kicking ass long after the Monte Carlo, and my grandmother were dead and buried.

Anyway, I like the old ones. That new style looks like the back wheels are set too far back and the front end is ugly.
