Pepper or bear spray would be very discouraging, and the moose would catch every tree in the forest with that rack.

That moose could charge straight through those trees

Hey Sector2...I've seen moose plow through 4inch dia maple trees like fuck all, I used to hunt them quite a bit and the power they have is amazing...just a point of interest, back in the 80s I was sitting in position waiting for moose near a marsh and across the swampy field I notice a big fucking rack bobbing over top of the grubbing and a little distance away was a big black bear and it was on it's hinds, it was no threat to the moose but it was rutting season and moose are retarded horny but that fucking bull moose never broke stride, it just zoomed in on that bear and I kinda thought that the bear would at least hold it's own but when that bull made contact the bear went ass end over tea kettle, the moose tossed that bruin into the air like fuck all and when that bear landed it just fucked right off...it was impressive....I didn't shoot that moose because I didn't have a tag for it but even then I wouldn't have shot it just out of respect for that animal...but I got the cow moose next morning. Very powerful animal, like a Clydesdale with antlers.

Aren’t moose closer in size to elephants than deer?

[ - ] Zyklonbeekeeper 0 points 4 monthsDec 6, 2024 20:12:06 ago (+0/-0)

@Rawrination ...moose aren't near the size of elephants, here in Kanastan there's 3 strain of moose...most common in Northern Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan is the standard moose breed which can achieve a weight of 1,200+lbs, in Northern Alberta, Yukon and Northwest Territories there's the Yukon/Alaskan breed of moose which get a bit bigger, ie up to 1,800lbs, but the Labrador moose get to be monsters and I think the biggest on record is 2,200lbs with an 80" double-pan antler rack...anyone seeing a bull moose with a double pan rack will never forget it, I've only seen it twice in my life and they're very intimidating. I gave up on moose because I ate so much of it and there's very little nutrition in Ontario moose due to their diet of lilly pads and tree buds, but the Labrador moose have a different diet, similar to the tundra caribou, in fact I'll take caribou over any wild game with Elk being a close 2nd...but I've seen big bull moose take 4rnds of
30-06 220grn rnd nose soft point and not fall, in fact, when we finally got that moose down 2 of the bullets were lodged into the shoulder muscles just under the 1" thick hide, fucking 30-06 couldn't punch through into the lungs, it was the rnd that went in under the shoulder blade that found it's way to the lungs, but that moose went a good half mile into the thickest bush with 4rnds in it...a 220grn rnd nose from a 30-06 would take the head off a deer, it would cut a human in two. They're probably the strongest animal in the Western hemisphere. I've personally seen a big Timberwolf get destroyed by moose, 3 large bull moose trampled this thing, broke it's jaw, it's shoulder and it's entire right side of ribs were shattered and that fucker lived for another 3 months but was shot dead on a Lake Superior beach when it made a feeble attempt to attack a person, it was pathetic...I saw the original encounter near Wawa Ontario, it was February 98/99, I called the Conservation Authorities asking the protocol for injured wolves in a situation like this, I suggested that someone put the animal down to limit it's suffering and the broad says to let nature take it's course...months later it's on the news of a (lame) wolf attack. You can query it.. "wolf attack at Katherine Cove Lake Superior...I witnessed that wolf getting trampled by 3 big bull moose, it made the mistake of wandering into the winter yarding area...there was a pack of 5 Timberwolves in that location for a long time, one wolf was a good 5ft to the shoulder, I had one chase after me a bit cause I got too close to their kill but all in all Timberwolves have never bothered me, I've got 3 right here where I live....but the coyotes are the bad ones.
And there you have it.

They never want to get that close when you want them to.
