i did get a laugh out of the whole "hey mum did you ever hear of this old band called 'Nirvana'" joke. Im old enough to remember Metallica getting big on the back of bootleg cassettes then bitching out Napster, kind of the internet equivalent of the 'Nirvana' thing.

Haha that can be true. Some of my favorites of crazy things include Grandma having to warm up bricks to place under the feet for wagon rides into town for Church in cold Midwest weather. Later they moved to the city and my Grandma's first job as a secretary (yes she used shorthand which is another good example of bygone times) bought the family plumbing!
I even think it's amusing to tell them of things from my own life that are crazy to them. Such as a party line for the phone and of course having them listen to the dial-up sounds and explaining how the choice was phone OR internet lol.
