Yes, they can fucking keep that, I'm already a label checker, will be doing that even more now.

They are welcome to it, it's not in my dogs diet, they are raw fed and look fabulous for it.

Massive rise in dog cancers in recent years, food and perhaps vaccines are really the only answer, dogs didn't get the issues they get today when I was a youngster.

What happens when they decide, for your own good, they don't have to include bugs on the label?

Or it gets put under "natural flavors" or "spices and flavoring" or some other such nonsense?

Yep, when we get dogs we'll feed them raw. Would you mind sharing what you feed them?

Dog chow is probably made of dead vaccinated people

Well I use a company local to me , they are very good, there's various different mixes but one of my dogs has elbow dysplasia and so he eats a lot of chicken carcass, and everything else they offer with tripe etc. I cant link it without doxxing myself , but things like washed tripe, best ox tripe, fish and tripe, best mince and tripe etc etc, I had them on a mixture which when you get into raw I guarantee you will come across it , it's terminology is 80/10/10(80%meat 10% offal and 10% bone, over a period of about 6 months(both my dogs were fed exactly the same and only one had this issue), one became extremely ill where he ended up in the vet hospital for 3 days and they operated him and found nothing wrong(actually the veys stated all of his organs looked "perfect", long story short, we took him home(when he was well enough) and kept feeding him the same food. He didn't improve and after a few days I said to my wife that it could only be the food(other dog was fine), I took him off it and fed him chicken carcass for 2 days, problem solved and he was right as rain in 24 hours. My conclusion was it was too much bone content in the 80/10/10 mix, I've taken them both off that now and they are fed the mixes I stated and many more complimentary bits and bobs, lamb hearts, kidney etc and they have a couple of large uncooked knuckle bones every month. The very bill was around £4500 and I'm hopefully helping you to avoid such a thing. Both dogs love the food(2.5-3 years they've been on it) and it probably cost £2-3 per day for them both so let's say£1.50 each dog. My one dog had terrible stomach issues and couldn't stomach any normal kibble or dog food and after 18months of trying everything the vet suggested I put him on raw, fixed the issue in 3 days, never looked back since, no issues now. You don't need as much raw food as you would give kibble etc (if you feed the same amount as normal dog food you would have a fat dig very quickly) exercise is important for them, my boys have 3hours a day are underfed and over worked, they look fantastic on it. Good luck.
Company I use buy the product in, do all of the mixes, then package and sell. The one thing I don't like on all of it is that all the meat etc used will have been vaccinated and had other drugs over their Lifetimes, you can't get that stuff out.

Thank you so much for your knowledge, I appreciate it! I'm going to follow this and do my own tweaks if I have to. It may be a couple of years before we get a dog (or two) but will save this.

Ymw, remember that you need to keep their raw food separate from your own, you have to be extremely clean with bowls utensils etc. my dogs have their own chest freezer and fridge freezer where geor food is stored, they also have their own utensils, bowls etc which are cleaned each time they're used. Never give cooked bones to your dogs, lamb bones I have found are too soft and they can fracture leaving very sharp bits of bones, beef knuckle bones I have found to be the best as they're soft enough to allow the dogs to gnaw away and they dont fracture(unlike marrow bones), its a learning curve but I'm sure that you will get there. The cleanliness is because of botulism which is very rare nowadays but be very clean to reduce the risk.
Good luck and take care.

I saw a study recently about how mealworms can eat styrofoam and other plastics. I'm sure they won't try to connect that particular idea to this in any way.

Lac resin (shellac) can be found in foods in the US already. I'm not terribly fond of insects to begin with. Really, honey is where I draw the line.

"Bugs are already included as an ingredient in pet food, like your birds and lizards"

Also, "As a meat substitute, so you can eat animals instead of animals."

Birds and lizards already eat bugs as part of their diet.

[ - ] Pasty 3 points 6 monthsDec 3, 2024 14:05:38 ago (+3/-0)

Chikens convert bugs into food that people can actually eat.

I like that line of thinking.

Thankfully in the UK (Europe also) we have decent labelling of ingredients, but I know they try and disguise things by using Latin names etc(as most won't bother to search the meanings out), when they get to the point you describe, obviously you're fucked.
