"Chosen" applied to the Jewish people that brought Jesus into the world, and followed the Teachings of Jesus. Those Chosen people were persecuted by the corrupt and evil jews, who make up the territory called Israel, in the Middle East today! You can NOT reject Jesus Christ, and be "chosen"! Even a modern-day jew should be able to understand that! IF the jews were "chosen" as they like to claim, there wouldn't be Catholics today.

God’s covenant with the Jews has been fulfilled by Christ coming in the flesh and dying. That said, God still has a special relationship with the Jews because of them being the children of the Patriarchs. So, yes, the Jews are still Gods chosen people. However, their current relationship with God does not merit salvation as they reject the New Covenant which Christ established.

However, the Christian Church is also God’s chosen people. As the New Covenant of Christ expanded by baptism to include all the nations. So baptized Christians are Gods chosen people who, by accepting Christ, receive God’s mercy by the sacraments.

Jews, however, are not the people of Israel. Israel is the Catholic Church, being of all nations. However, all people who reject Christ are cut off from the tree of Israel.
