Yeah. I have. While in school, beginning in the 6th grade, I was put into this mentoring/tutoring program. Administrators pulled gifted kids from class, any class, and threw them into a room with any kid that was having trouble academically. In high school I told them if I catch them cheating, that's it, I wasn't going to work with that student again. It was kinda' great because I had free reign anywhere available, even outside. With the boys, I used sports as a method of reward and teaching. With the girls, I usually found it was a sleep or diet thing and let them talk to me the first few sessions. Most kids, White, black, even a few Chinese who couldn't even speak English, at least enjoyed the time and creativity. Some got aggressive and I wasn't having that shit. Some were too embarrassed and quit. I did that for 6 years.
But things were a lot different back then. It has gotten worse, but still, the schools tried very hard to help. Now, not so much. Is it the parents? The teachers? Social media?
