The only thing awful about the borders is that they don’t encompass the totality of both American continents.

Lol divide the mountain ranges…

If they didn’t want us to know what mountain ranges are good for, they shouldn’t have sent 20 years of kids to Afghanistan.

I was hoping for a different direction - one of population and not geography.

Many states have large population centers that are at odds with the more sparsely populated zones of the rest of the state - think California and New York.

Throwing changes based on geography just makes the political divide worse, but carving up states to represent actual voices is a better idea overall to me. And make like 100 more states too to give everyone a much bigger voice when voting.

It's a Chicken or the Egg argument... With more logical borders, populations will resettle to better fill out the newly formed states.

That could be a debatable claim.

Many of the big cities grew because of location and access to transport systems. And many of the dead zones are of note because of the dearth of resources.

Drawing a border doesn't magically make any area better or worse to even things out.

But creating borders around where people are now will help improve the political climate. And adding 100 more states would give everyone a much more resounding voice in how the country moves forward.
