Lyrebirds are fucking nuts. This motherfucker isnt just mimicking hammering a post into the ground... if you listen closely.... its mimicking its depth too
if you hear them do an automatic camera feed now - it learned that from other birds. click and brrrrrrrrts are not common any more, but dandenong birds still do it.
im going with plausible. but i live on the edge of a forest full of lyrebirds which can be unsettling just after dark if one decides to rip out a human sound like a baby crying the first time you hear it
ive heard them do viper alarms, fence wire being hit with metal, drills, hammering, chainsaws, babies, toy lazer guns, iphone ring tones (high volume tourist area) and i think the best was one terrifying another person by ripping out an adult female scream in front of people. not sure whats more terrifying, the fact that it can mimic an adult female scream, or the fact that it was witness to something that caused an adult female scream. that poor cunt may have seen some shit. they only learn by hearing what is in front of them or pass it on to baby lyrebirds mimicking parents or some shit.
holy fuck. ive just thought of an awesome way to fuck with people in the area. i need to get out into the bush with some star wars sound samples and train some birds up.
nek minit
Endor moon full of bogan aussies and chinese tourists running from imaginary ewoks screaming at them.
nek nek minit new 'conservation law' comes into effect outlawing people training native wildlife after a spate of birds during mating season telling tourists 'Fuck off ya chinky cunt im trying ta cop a root' 'never was, never will be' 'abo bastards stole our land and tried to genocide us' 'help this guy called uncledoug keeps trying to have sex with me'

Crows actually can mimic human speech better than parrots.
