Her dependence on him is not portrayed as a parasitic/immoral one, and of course, she supports his dream while he is in jail as if his breakthrough is going to be her saving grace as well. That's the insidious part. The whole thing is meant to make them seem like a family. The reality is he pimps her out for money.
