The molecules along themselves in the long chains that form what we call crude oil.
This happens constantly inside the earth and it doesn't take very long and it can use any carbon form. It can be done mechanically by people and is being done by many companies now in that large steel containers in less than an hour.
It is absolutely proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that oil is not a fossil fuel and it does not have limited quantities but it's actually being made constantly all the time.
Here is an old company doing it

Oil has been leaking up from the bottom of the ocean for so long that there is an entire family of microorganisms that have evolved that consume it.
Question #1:
"If oil is the result of percolating dead dinosaur ass, then why do we keep finding new deposits in places where dinosaurs have never fucking existed?"
Question #2:
"If oil is such a limited resource, then how is it we've detected hydrocarbons in the atmospheres of distant planets using gas chromatography?"
(where, by the way, there have also been no dead dinosaur asses)

I live near the gulf of Mexico. There is ALWAYS tar (heavier oil) washing up on the beach and a very small bit of lighter oil floating up onto the beach.
Every few months I hear someone complaining about oil spills from the platforms and ships in the gulf ruining the beaches and causing pollution.
Each time, I try to stop and explain: (1) There is lots of oil under the gulf. (2) The pressure of the water and the shallow nature of the oil results in oil seeping up. (3) Oil tends to float. (4) This has been going on for 1000's of years and will likely continue for 1000's of years. (5) Lots of evidence of American Indians on the gulf coast using this tar to seal canoes and such long before the white man showed-up with his evil inventions. But, by all means, please continue to clutch your pearls about this latest thing.

That "corexit" stuff (pronounced "corrects it" lol) they sprayed during that huge BP spill a few years ago made all the surface oil sink to the sea floor.

We can only have one risk at a time. Either running out of oil or climate change. It can't be both. So which one bitches?

There's nearly more oil than water in the ocean. But if everyone believes there's a limit to how much can be harvested, we'll obviously pay a lot more.
