COYOTES GOT ME IN KILL MODE TONIGHT

submitted by Zyklonbeekeeper to HDLunited 6 monthsOct 20, 2024 19:21:07 ago (+7/-0)     (HDLunited)

I've got 2 mother bears with cubs, 3 cubs are a good size while the other 2 cubs are late born and very undersized for this time of the year and the coyotes have picked up on this.

A couple nights ago a pack moved in and set up on the escarpment in crescent form covering about a quarter mile of hill top. They howl back and forth in various pitch and are moving closer to my area where the bears are...and the bears are very edgy right now, especially the mother with the small cubs.

A couple days ago one coyote barreled through the yard right through the bears to see how they react. I know that those sneaky fuckers are planning an attack.

They're early tonight and they are close and I've got 2 weapons loaded for the kill, the .17WSM has the light attachment tonight, the MOSSBERG 500 is loaded with SSG and I've got the fire going with 8 bears around me.

The only downside is that the coyote hide is not prime yet ($150.00 per quality hide) but I don't give a fuck, I'm just in the mood to kill tonight.

Updates to follow

if you're just trying to get rid of them ive had success against many wild animals just filling milk jugs with my piss and leaving them open by their spots.

I know about the piss deterrent and it does work to a certain extent but over time animals adjust to their surroundings...the problem now is that the coyotes have really become a nuisance and they're after anything with fur or hair, not that I give a fuck but in my neck of the woods quite a few cats and dogs have been literally ripped to shreds. When the Timberwolves move back in with the deer herd come winter the coyotes will move out but right now for probably the next 3 weeks the coyotes will be a menace, I don't let my guard down with those fuckers, I've seen them hide in cluttered areas just waiting to ambush whatever moves, I will give them credit though, they are fucking intelligent and cagey, I've watched them set up into position of ambush with one coyote used as a decoy while appearing injured, these mutts operate in a very efficient structured way and they know when the threat of danger is active and close at hand, it's very hard to knock off two at a time because they're never packed up until actual kill time or when feasting, even then the stronger ones will rip away a hind or front quarter (of a deer) and separate from the rest. But there's just too many of them today and they have to be called, there's actually areas here with no bag limit on coyotes...farmers and rural area home owners can kill them as deemed necessary year round.

Good luck, I'm super famiar with shotguns, but WTF is SSG (ie " the MOSSBERG 500 is loaded with SSG")? Looked it up and got this:

"Based on the provided search results, SSG likely refers to the “Shotgun Retention System” or “Special Forces Group” configurations for the Mossberg 500 pump-action shotgun.

In 2009, the U.S. Army Special Forces Groups procured Military Enhancement Kits to standardize their shotgun configuration based on the Mossberg 500. These kits included a collapsible stock, shotgun retention system, 1913 receiver rail, fore-end rail system, and breaching barrels. A total of 1301 shotguns were converted with the first unit being equipped in July 2009.

Additionally, some Mossberg 500 models, such as the “Cruiser” variant, have been designed with a pistol grip and heat shield, which may be referred to as SSG configurations.

It’s worth noting that SSG can also refer to the “Special Shotgun” designation, but without further information, it’s unclear if this is the case here. If you have any additional context or clarification regarding SSG, I’ll be happy to provide a more specific answer."

@beece...SSG is the Canuck version of OO BUCK SHOT...a 2 3/4" 12guage rnd has 12 SSG shot-pellets, Winchester SuperX...very deadly up to about 75ft, this rnd fired off inside confined quarters out of a MOSSBERG 500 will make a mess of everything.

Get 'em.

Coyotes are opportunists, like sneaky niggers with fur, but craftier.

Have you tried baiting them?

[ - ] Zyklonbeekeeper [op] 0 points 6 monthsOct 21, 2024 15:26:14 ago (+0/-0)

@Bulletstopper no need to bait them because my entire area is teaming with live bait ie deer, rabbits, upland game birds...these coyotes ain't starving they just like to kill...thing is that they don't even eat the bear cubs that they kill.

I was unclear. I meant "bait" in two ways:
1) bait them into a prepared killzone,
2) poison bait.

@BulletStopper re "baiting into a kill zone"...I do have a couple specific "kill zones" that I make attractive with spoiled chicken...point of interest, when chicken turns green it'll gag a maggot from a distance, coyotes love it and it draws them in...a couple years ago a fox (I've got two fox here, they're just part of the household) picked up a half part of the chicken and brought it into the garage, it was evening and I was at the work bench with the door open, I didn't hear him come in, they're stealthy little fucks, but then the stench hit me from behind and I repulsed, fucking gross, I turned to run outside and there's the putrified green sludge of my coyote bait just inside the door, I didn't know exactly what was going on but I knew it was dragged in...15minutes later I see little fox buddy coming back with another piece of rotted flesh, "ohhh you little fucker".
Baiting is good but you have to be on site at all times while it's there or else it gets dragged off...but nothing draws coyotes like rancid chicken.
In fact I've got a story I'm going to post one of these days that involves rancid chicken and the cops.

In this insane world, I find it very soothing to imagine Zyklon looking after his bears. It just seems so normal, when everything else is abnormal.

We go out at night with IR scopes and slay the fuck out of them once in a while.

dude how do you not put a bodycam or gopro onto this adverture?

I read the whole thing. Awesome.
Sounds badass. Go get a camera.

The hunting coyotes is cool enough, but defending bears also. Dude.

[ - ] Zyklonbeekeeper [op] 1 point 6 monthsOct 21, 2024 15:05:11 ago (+1/-0)

@puremadness re body cam...to me this is just run of the mill shit, I've got so much film footage and pics from the past years that I see it as more of an inconvenience. As for "defending the bears", I don't like interfering with nature other than to intervene when nature interfers with me ie pesky vermine, coons or coyotes...my favorite mother bear "Lashes" lost all of her cubs last year to coyotes and by the fuck it had a noticeable effect on her to the point where she was downright pathetic and I kind of felt for her so I decided that I'm going to bend the rules a bit and kill some mutts, I just take it all as being part of daily life and something to do out here in the country, nothing special, just life.

We are the worlds caretakers. Good hunting!
