Sent with the detachment is an native water carrier for the troops that seeks to elevate his status in "Gunga Din"; then a company of Foreign Legionnaires are sent to a seemingly deserted remote desert fortress, but when a pair of murders occurs due to the apparent theft of a valuable gem. Years later a trio of brothers learn that their caretaker will be left penniless after her husband intends to sell the gem, at a viewing, the gem is once again stolen, with two of the brothers fleeing to the Legion to escape in "Beau Geste".
