I like Sam Neill too. Dean Spanley is a funny one he did a few years back which I liked.

Interesting to note:

In March 2023, Neill revealed that he had been undergoing chemotherapy since March 2022 after being diagnosed with stage 3 angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, following swollen glands that were first noticed during publicity for Jurassic World Dominion.[45] He stated that the cancer is in remission, but he will require monthly chemotherapy for the rest of his life.[46][45]

Seems like good timing for jab related turbo cancer.

"You let me burn!!" Can't help but laugh at that part. But yeah the rest of it is nightmare fuel.

I'm a big fan of Warhammer 40k books, and there's this fun little theory about Event Horizon being a sort of prequel to that series; the method of space travel in WH40k is almost identical to EH's, where space is folded and the ship passes through a dimension that resembles hell. Without proper shielding, the ship's crew will all go insane almost instantly... and then the daemons come.

Excellent movie. Sam Neill is fantastic. I think this movie gained a much bigger following after its time. It has flaws. Like most horror films, the setup is stellar and the delivery is a bit of a letdown. This is hard to avoid when you're shooting for the moon. For me, the pace was the issue. It moves too fast. For what it is, it's still great. I watched it again near the start of this month. I think it could have benefitted from a more contemporary 2.5 hr treatment with more of a slow-burn buildup. I would have liked to see Dr. Weir's interaction with the other side and his descent into madness explored a bit more.

I watched this movie at the Chinese mann theater when it came out. I had no idea it was a horror movie. I thought it was a space movie.

It was my mom, sister and I in this theater and one other guy sitting two rows behind us. This theater is massive, before the remodel probably 500+ seats. Made it insanely more scary.
