I need to check my pings more often. I know a guy who sells dragon fruit cactuses. He has a green house and a green thumb and the first time he gave me some, goddamn that’s some good fruit. It looks like it’s gonna be a pain in the ass to eat like the outside is tough but it isn’t you can cut through it like butter 10/10 fruit

And the taste? I know everyone's taste buds pick up on the differing aspects of a food item, but I trust your judgment. Cause you know, brother, that with the cost of groceries, buying something for the shits and giggles taste experience can run up towards $25 bucks.

I discovered golden berries. Some in the bunch are tart and some are sweet, but I can literally feel the nutrients coursing thru my veins when I eat those.

They are arguably a lot better than dragonfruit. Sweet, a little squooshy (sorry about the bad adjective). Little touch of bitter and acid on the finish. I think that, if they weren't so scary looking, that they would be more mainstream.

Wonder if finding rambutan juice is easier and less costly than the fresh stuff. Haven't seen them in all but one store in my life. As far as bitter and tart, wish it would be at the beginning of the taste experience. I like the rough stuff up front.

They are seasonal. Usually imported from S America. Keep an eye out late summer. Trader Joe's usually has them (seasonally) fwiw.

Most tropical fruit tastes of tap water unless you live in the tropics.

Get Zespri SunGold Kiwi fruit, they are a superior fruit, flavour and health benefits.

Dragon fruit is very expensive considering it has many alternatives. Sapote is expensive too. Floridians have a better chance at the mamey fruits.

Did you try any of the YouTube methods to pop the fruit off the skin?

I don't live anywhere near where these things come from, but you'll see them in the supermarkets often enough. Sometimes the inside is red and sometimes white. I could be nuts, but I think red tastes better.

I found prickly pear cactus fruit several years ago. I guess they're not all created equal, but a good one is goddamn delicious. You deserve to try one. Star fruit too, as someone else mentioned.

We get tons of those pricklypear fruits, but ours just taste like sweet. Not much of a flavor to speak of... maybe they're mutated by harbor toxic waste or something.

I tried one a few months ago for something different. It really didn't taste like anything! I can see it as a decent filler for smoothies.

My new favorite is persimmons - they finally came back to the Asian grocery store! They're like mildly sweet pears. There are 2 kinds though you need to be careful. The flatter kind are the tasty ones. They others that are shaped like hearts taste like spraying perfume in your mouth.
