They don't have to burn the books they just remove them.

[ - ] VitaminSieg 1 point 8 monthsOct 16, 2024 10:16:49 ago (+1/-0)

And then burn them.

[ - ] Tallest_Skil 1 point 8 monthsOct 16, 2024 09:14:03 ago (+1/-0)

publishers removed

Interesting, so the publishers hacked Archive.org and deleted the files? Or… they manually removed the files themselves because meanie poo poo heads told them to?

Because it’s the latter. They did it themselves. They’re complicit.

You're seriously going to beat on them for not violating a court order? The Internet Archive is a huge project and must be taking up multiple data centers. There are very few places left in the world where IA could flout such a court order, and with this large a case it might be enough to get any such place disconnected from the net in general.

Yes.

The Internet Archive is a huge project and must be taking up multiple data centers.

Okay.

There are very few places left in the world where IA could flout such a court order

Maybe if they actually had principles they would move there.

and with this large a case it might be enough to get any such place disconnected from the net in general.

Okay. Do it. Having nothing at all is better than obedience.

Go defend white genocide somewhere else.

They (Internet Archive) are getting the lawyer powerwash, right now as we speak for "lending out ebooks". The guy running IA isn't law savvy (or is, and getting a kickback obama soetoro style).

Did they remove Fahrenheit 451? Now that would be ironic.

Apparently 1984 is copyrighted until 2030.

Like the plandemic bioweapon data it's been sealed for 75 years.

[ - ] allAheadFull 0 points 8 monthsOct 16, 2024 17:26:12 ago (+0/-0)

Pfizer? They tried but were ordered to release it. There's some really damning stuff in there, but no one is going to be held accountable apparently. Maybe somebody else sealed their data up too.

Someone mentioned that copyright expired in Australia. Anyways, here is a link to the pdf.

Presume it’s because of these people. Tbf if it’s under copyright why should they give it away for free? But the below site is excellent if you want to read any of Orwell’s articles or essays. “Notes on Nationalism” and “A Hanging” are very good, but I suspect “Antisemitism in Britain” won’t have many fans here. You don’t need to agree with the man to enjoy his work though.

Well, 1984 is irrelevant anyway.
Read Huxley.
Brave New World is what you're looking for.
1984 is for midwit crayon eaters who like to sound literate.

Soma is such a good metaphor for what keeps most of these idiots going that most people don't hone in on enough.

And the worst punishment being to be sent to Iceland has to be the best joke ever.

[ - ] TheYiddler 1 point 8 monthsOct 16, 2024 16:41:14 ago (+1/-0)

1984's two minute hate describes a lot of the TDS retards.

[ - ] puremadness 1 point 8 monthsOct 17, 2024 03:12:58 ago (+1/-0)

I also chuckle when I think about how happy the one dude who is sick to death of slaying vag and being super successful all day is to go to Iceland, for one it is exile, for the other it is paradise.

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz 0 points 8 monthsOct 16, 2024 17:28:27 ago (+0/-0)

Soma

aka drugs, why do you think they want to legalize it in the lower 48?

[ - ] puremadness 0 points 8 monthsOct 17, 2024 03:09:10 ago (+0/-0)

I read 1984 first, really got me on the whole genre.
I have to agree with you though.
Saw the movie of Brave New World and its on youtube in full free still.
To clarify I've now seen it about 200 times. It's really long and mostly talking.

My phone has youtube, so I just loop it on 12 hour car rides.
It's not as bad as that sounds. Obviously I dont watch the screen and no one monetizes it so no ads iirc.
I loop that shit at home too sometimes, when I cant decide. Not when kids are around though, too much sex talk.

[ - ] Indoctrinated_USA 0 points 8 monthsOct 17, 2024 05:31:31 ago (+0/-0)

I didn't know there was a movie.
I'll look into it.

[ - ] puremadness 0 points 8 monthsOct 18, 2024 01:44:15 ago (+0/-0)

Srsly, dont have kids around, its not raunchy, but they discuss orgies as if they are normal because obviously, in the story they are. My fear is that to a child, this may seem like validation of the practice. I do think 16+ should watch it w/parental guidance but the littler ones need to skip this.

Here is the entire movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfOtzR0dTkQ

Interesting tid bit about 1984 which most people miss... the book is almost to accurate to just be dreamed up by some one he had to have inside information.

Why do I say this? Because the actual date he predicted was not 1984 but 2050 a fucking very scary date that once you notice it you will start to see it every where.

In the book towards the end it says newspeak will be fully implemented by 2050.

Fucking terrifyingly accurate if you ask me

When writing cautionary tales some people take them as a manual.

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz 0 points 8 monthsOct 16, 2024 17:26:38 ago (+0/-0)

you dont need to read orwell, read the communist manifesto or the protocols of the learned elders of zion. same fucking thing
