I just bought two onions, two jalapenos, one lime, and 8 ounces of mozzarella for $9.

Would you Call that cheap when you get 300€ salary per month?

I remember it being about 3x cheaper than US a couple years ago. If we've gotten fucked more by inflation, it seems about right.

Exactly. This video really just reflects the currency exchange rate with USD.

There was a post on Twitter on food prices in my country in (((EU))) compared to 10 years ago. Ground beef up 450%, salmon 550%, coffee 600%. All the news is going on about evil Putin and how wonderful NATO is and let's shovel more money to Ukraine and raise taxes just a little bit because we're all so great. I'm pretty sure wages are not keeping up with this pace.

It's funny, people pretend it's amazing but wouldn't even vacation there.

Way i see it is People are drawn to shiny flashy consumerism, no matter what.

Even on deserted island getaways they want access to all the amenities.

I imagine visiting russia is like stepping back 30 / 40 years with more emphasis on the people/ culture and architecture etc.
Not for 24/7 casinos , all you can drink titty bars and bright shiny lights and massive malls.

russia has over 20% inflation rate

And still have way cheaper prices ...here in nz that same basket would cost NZD $40.00 for the budget brands.

it doesn't work that way you simpleton, they don't have western salaries in orcistan

[ - ] dass 0 points 8 monthsOct 15, 2024 15:01:45 ago (+0/-0)

Reeeeee, more to the point then that their PPP (purchasing power parity) is much better even with 20% inflation. 20% of fck all is still fck all..
