I think God is so far above what man can do, that He would thwart the plans of His people, if they tried to sell a false god to their enemies, and the One True God would triumph in the end. Also, would a people that would sell a false god to their enemies, really be people of God! Take Catholics (Christians) for example, we've spread the Word of Christ all throughout the World, especially to our enemies.
