Had one last year, no power or roads for 4 days. Everything was just fine with basic preping.

I live in the wettest area in the U.S.A. were we get hundreds of inches of rainfall per year and hundreds of thousands of people have 10,000 gallon catchment tanks. Water delivery is still a very lucrative business here. No one can survive on rainfall alone unless you have your own manmade lake to pull from.

Showers, dishes, toilets, laundry, etc.
Everyday water use adds up. If it doesn't rain for 3 to 4 weeks, you run out of water unless you are being conservative. For some people $400 for a 4000 gallon water truck is just a bill you occasionally have to pay. For people like me, we just haul the free water from the local municipal water supply

We get zero rain during the 7-8 months of summer in California. All rain happens from roughly November through March. Accuweather says the first rain of the season is in 3 weeks, on the 27th and 28th.
