Cockpit through the wind screen or gas tank just behind the waist before the tail, also the hydraulics right below the main rotor are all vulnerable to rifle fire. Those things are armored on the belly, so don't bother if it's right above you. Your best chance is when it's hovering, otherwise you'll want to lead the shot.
A million years ago in 2005, when I was a young and studly Blackhawk Crewchief in the deserts of Iraq, we were flying a sniper support mission with some “other government activities “ guys later in the day. I’m out preflighting my aircraft when one of these guys who was younger than me and waaay outranked even my crotchety old pilots somehow, came back to the tail section that I was climbing on, at the time, I guess to just shoot the shit.
This fucker brazenly asks me “So if I wanted to shoot this thing down, what would be the best way to go about doing that?”
Mildly miffed, so to speak, I said something to the effect of “I don’t think I want to tell you that.” There may have been a few motherfuckers and some other colorful language sprinkled in there. His boss, an even higher ranking but more respectable dude came along to find out what the noise was about.
He eventually explained to me that his little underling wasn’t specifically referring to my helicopter or even a Blackhawk at all, just to get a crew chief’s perspective on a helicopter’s vulnerabilities. At which point he assumed it would be a tail rotor.
I told him maybe that’s true for a lot of helicopters, but for an Blackhawk, over a certain airspeed the tail rotor is no longer a vulnerable point. But what IS true, for all helicopters, regardless of type, is that their most vulnerable spots are the two, and sometimes only one, pink squishy things in the front.
It took him a second to get what I meant, but eventually he figured it out. I flew with that guy a couple more times. MOST of their team was fun dudes. And I never had to have the young guy on my aircraft.
I say all that to say this, for any of you guys, a government Blackhawk, Chinook, whatever. .308 will punch through the skin, glass, or plexiglass on any of these aircraft. It’ll get through the soft body armor, and the flight helmets are just that, NOT ballistic helmets. The crew do wear plates but only a trauma plate on the torso to allow for limb movement. They are not currently authorized to fly over US soil with guns. Mounted, personal, or otherwise, and a HUGE change will have to take place to allow that. The only ones that are, are aircraft where the guns are integral like an Apache. Even then they’re not loaded.
Do with all of that information what you will. I loved my old job, but I hate tyrants exponentially more.
That’s a very good point. They react like the old elephant and mouse. BUUUUUT if you decide to do the laser thing, they can quickly hit target store on the GPS, and they’ll be able to find exactly where you were.
And even if you hide, your neighbors will turn you in for good boy points.

Heard a good explanation today that this might be because the government handed out peace Work contracts to ex military contractors to deliver aid by the ton, so those vet, bro faggots actually see these volunteers as competition. And obviously have legal immunity to fuck around with them like this.

youd have to have a tank full of vapour and even then getting it to flash and/or for it to flash off anything substantial is going to be pushing it.
