I've been growing my beard for about 6 months. Don't even really know why because I've been clean shaven for a while now. I can grow a mountain man beard pretty quick so its big. It has gray in it mixed with black but looks really nice because I comb it a few times ery day with a beard comb. I usually don't mind it but this time its getting on my nerves so I'm thinking about shaving it off. Or should I grow it down to my knees? My wife says not to shave it but she's not my boss and don't tell me what to do.

I shave for comfort. Idk I think a clean shave feels better. I like a little bush on the Mrs tho.

I also grow a mountain man beard very quick. So what I've been doing is trim it real short like a #2 or #3 in the spring until fall then grow out the mountain man beard. Rinse and repeat works for me.

I don't hate it. As I said, its just getting on my nerve this time. I think its got to go. I still haven't decided.

Keep it trimmed and short enough not to be a bother. "Shave" under/around it with a standard trimmer, not a close-skin shaver.

That'll give you the rugged look without having the irritation of a close shave or the itchiness of just barely too long hair.

Keeps you happy, the wife happy, and you short enough to still do work without it getting caught in something. If you can grab it in a fist, it's too long.
