TempleOS needs no antivirus.

Occasionally one infects but then it hears glownigger one too many times and deletes itself.

Run your web browser in this and you can click all the malware links you want safely.

Sandboxie used to be the best for running software cracks (for educational purposes only, of course)

There isn't much point these days. On widoze systems the windows defender module already real time scans for known malware signatures. Adding another AV on top just double scans everything which almost always just results in a slower system that is no more "safe". There is very little that commercial AV will catch that WD wont and neither do much for any legitimate threat like 0day exploits. Heuristics in general is trash on the commercial apps in my experience.

As far as phones: same issue of slowing them down without any real benefit.

There was an issues with malicious chrome extensions for a while but that seems to have faded.

The fact that many AV companies have "removal tools" for their AV products that are damn near required to cleanly remove them shows just how malware like they have become.

Using a linux based os generally makes the whole malware issue moot. That what I generally recommend for old folks just so they cant screw it up easily.

I use Linux. Not sure if there even is nonsense like that for Linux.

Have you heard about the cupsd back? 9.9/10 severity.

I simply use brave and built in Winsoqa Defender. Nothing bad seems to get thru.

why

stay away from shit links dont reply to spam emails and thats pretty much all you can do these days.

anti-virus aint gonna fucking stop you from willingly sending $10,000 a time to a nigerian prince to prepare for your dumbass aunts wedding or replying to an ai generated chinese robocall with a voice imprint they then go and recycle by calling your bank and authorising a change of details.

aint nothing an antivirus can do for you if youre a fucking dumbass.

and no. you dont need em on your mobile phone. theres far easier and more destructive shit for bad actors to be able to do with it, you wont know about it until its far too late to stop, and literally none of it is completely secure.
