this is about the only time anyone will ever hear me say this but i actually agree with this fuckknuckle on this point... well, partially. ive never really seen the point of smashing the fuck out of instruments. i mean in part its to emulate people like Keith Emerson, the difference being he was actually doing bizarre shit to his organs to make them make weird ass noises, fucker would play them normally until they went out of tune or fail half way through a song, then jam knives in keys to stick the keys down, go round the back of the organ, and start ripping shit out of it and rewiring it while its still playing.... until it stopped playing... all fully supported by the Hammond company who basically wanted him to do to their organs what spiffing brit does to pc games given to him by developers specifically to break it in unexpected ways.

shit like random guitar or drum smashing is just destruction.
