Some jew is getting rich selling that junk

The people that buy this junk are not serious about working out so it doesn't matter. Or if they are (serious) they might buy something like this once out of ignorance, but they quickly learn their lesson.

Either way 100% of the time the item will quickly end up stashed away in a closet or on a shelf in the garage, to reappear years later at a garage sale with a $5 sticker.

Absolutely fucking not. None of the materials, neither the boards nor the hardware, in door casing situations are meant to carry loads. It isn't even so much a question of whether it's wood or mdf or pvc, but rather the profile. The boards are thin, and you're installing them with finishing nails, which are a few dick hairs wide.

Even if you upgraded the hardware, that doesn't do anything about the thin profile of the boards (and it's gonna make your trim look like shit). You might get along for a while, but eventually you'll crack the boards, and it won't be slow, they'll just fail while you're doing a pull-up.

Equipment like this has been around for years. I honestly think whatever success the sellers have had relies on the principle of: someone buys it, uses it for a week, stores it away until the next yard sale. You are unlikely to fall on your ass in the doorway if you only use it three or four times to do 2-3 pullups each time before stashing it in a closet for ten years.

If you go on Amazon, you’ll find a weight cage for less than three hundred dollars. At the bare-minimum, it is a perfect way to get pull-ups and dips into your routine if you have the space for it. You can then add additional weights and devices.

After six months of almost daily pull-ups, I could visibly see it was a worthwhile investment.

The cage is the right option. Space? That's what basements or sheds or garages are for. If you want to, you can find room, always.
